Spring storms are always beautiful.

Had to put down the work laptop for a while tonight and grab the camera and tripod.  Plus, Molly brought out her camera too.  Had fun teaching her about time exposures.  She has a one touch for now, so her's turned out a little shaky.  But in time, she'll have a camera like mine I'm sure.  Probably better.

It's Spring!

Winter, (what we had of it), is over!  Today is the first day of Spring.  Feels more like mid-May with 80 degree temperatures, but I'll take it!

An old farm

I've always loved taking pictures of old farms and barns.  At one time they were the center of a families universe and livelihood.  And seeing them run down, overgrown and empty is kind of sad.  I found this one yesterday on the way to pick up Molly from her friends house.

A day at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History

Sometimes, things never work out the way you planned.  Saturday was one of those days.  But it all worked out good.  Our original plan for was to go to Salt Fork State Park in Ohio to do a little "Bigfoot Hunting" and then continue down to Wheeling, WV.  The forecast called for mostly cloudy skies with just the slightest bit of a chance for rain or snow.  Even Friday evenings weather check on the six o'clock news had that forecast.  When we woke up Saturday, there was already an inch of heavy wet snow on the ground and more to come. So those plans were pretty much over. But watching the morning news from Cleveland, nothing was going on up there. So we debated driving through the crappy weather to go north or just sit home. That's when the weather forecaster came on and said there was another band of heavy snow heading our way. We made a run for it! And we outran it.  And when we got just south of Cleveland, nothing. And I'm glad we made the run. It was a great day with the wife and kids.  Those days are few and far between as the kids get older, but they are always fun.

Getting back in the saddle again

It's been a while since I had a chance to get out with my camera.  I've been heads down in a project for a conference for the past month or so.  Now that it's over and the sun was out today, (at least early afternoon, big snows later in the day), I took advantage of it and got out and about.

A Tuba Christmas

My Christmas mood this year was lacking.  Guess that is just something that happens when you get older.  But I found the cure.  This past weekend, we went to see Tuba Christmas at EJ Thomas Hall in Akron.  Our close friend Craig was one of the performers.  If you have never experienced Christmas carols and other standards all done by tuba, then you are missing something.  Really put me in the mode for Christmas.
Merry Christmas, everybody! (Video at the bottom!)

Christmas in Zoar 2011

Today was this years Christmas in Zoar, which is always a great time.  Browsing the shops, seeing the crafts and getting into that Christmas spirit.  But...it was sunny and in the 50's today.  Not that I'm complaining.  Was a beautiful day spent with my girls.
