The 2011 Battle on the Ohio-Erie Canal Event : Saturday Happenings

After the amazing tactical it was time to walk around town and take in all the sites and sounds of the weekend.  The rest of Saturday morning was spent wandering about the Sutlers and the camps.  The big battle reenactment in the afternoon offered many good photo opportunities, however the hazy clouds played hell with the lighting.  The highlight of the day for me was the canon's being fired at dusk.  I have to say I was a little disappointed that they we not doing it in the dark, but I was happy with how the camera was able to pick up the plume of smoke and fire.
And to close out day, the Grand Ball in the main tent. When it was all said and done for me on Saturday, I was pretty beat.  I can't image how these guys do it.  I mean, wool uniforms and shoes that have the arch support of a 2x4.  An impressive day, indeed.  And there was still one more day to go.  Sunday, and the full 1st Manassas reenactment.

You can view all pictures I took from Saturday here.
